My grandparents settled in Sask. before confederation, my mother was born 5 days after entry. I feel as though I am with them. It is strange that I am older now than the time between canada's entry into confederation and my birth.

"Did they settle in Sask. before 1867? Where?" They settled first in Ontario and in 1892 moved to New Finland. When the prairies were still known as the North West Territories. Assiniboia and Athabasca. It was then separated into the the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in and 1905 then joined the Canadian confederation )

My grandma's family was from the New Finland district - recently I went to this area for the first time to learn about her background and see where she grew up - I hope to learn more about the Finnish settlers history. Thanks for this website!
